The 2020 General (Presidential) Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020.
Clerk's Office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 31st for voters who need assistance obtaining absentee ballots.
PLEASE NOTE: If you returned your signed absentee ballot application for the August 4th election, it also included the November 3rd election date. As such, it will be used again to send your ballot to you in time for the November election. Please consider using the locked dropbox at City Hall to return your ballot as there have been delays with USPS.
Registering to Vote
In accordance with new voter-approved Proposal 18-3, eligible citizens may register to vote at any time through Election Day. You must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age by election day, and a resident of the City of Belleville for at least 30 days prior to the election to be eligible.
If you are an eligible citizen (or voter who has moved) you can register to vote for federal, state, and local elections by mail; at your city or county clerk's office; or by visiting any Secretary of State branch office no later than the 15th day prior to the election (if you plan to vote in the current election). First, check the MICHIGAN VOTER INFORMATION CENTER online to confirm your registration status. Note: if you are a new resident and conduct business at a SOS office, you will automatically be registered to vote (unless you decline).
If you register within the 14-day period immediately prior to an election, you must appear in person in the City Clerk's office and provide proof of residency. For the best experience, provide a photo ID (Mich. Driver's License or personal ID card). Other acceptable proof of residency documents include: a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document.
NOTE: During the 14 days prior to the election if you choose to register anywhere other than in-person, you will not be eligible to vote in the next election unless you apply in person with the Belleville City Clerk OR you vote at your last place of residence.
If you have never registered to vote in Michigan and choose to mail in your voter registration application, you must meet an identification requirement. Please enter your driver's license number or personal ID card number where requested on the form OR send a copy of your driver's license/personal ID card OR a copy of a paycheck stub, utility bill, bank document or government document that lists both your name and address.
If you are registering to vote and meet the identification requirements, you may also submit an application to vote absentee. Please note that you MUST sign an application to vote for every election - whether you plan to vote in person or absentee. If you are on the Permanent Absentee Voter List, you will automatically receive an application for every election. But you must sign and submit it to the City Clerk in order to receive a ballot.
If you are living outside the U.S., you may send a Federal Postcard Application to register to vote. This application is distributed through U.S. embassies and military bases. It also serves as a way to request an absentee ballot. Click here to find the application and more information.

Please consult your voter registration card for your polling precinct location for all national, state, county and local elections. If you live in the City's corporate limits, you will vote in either Precinct 1 or 2, both located at:

As always, polls are open from 7:00 am to 8 pm on election day.
